I got the amazing opportunity to work with Freddie Wong and Brandon Laatsch on their latest viral video for Codemaster's upcoming game Bodycount. For those of you that have been living under a rock the past couple years, Freddie Wong and Brandon Laatsch are some amazingly talented directors who basically took over YouTube since they started releasing their weekly videos. Their videos are primarily based on video game's, but clever and smart writing surrounded by crazy action and VFX sets their videos apart. This particular video was based on a demo of BodyCount they played at E3.
They wanted me to compose electronic elements very reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid for sneaking around, and intense music for underscoring the action sequences. There is so much action in this particular film that a simple yet effective score was what they were seeking. The end result is a combination of electronic grooves, synths, string pads, and taiko drums. I hope to work with this duo again in the future as they continue to make amazing videos that keep their subscription base of over 2,000,000 people keep coming back for more.
